Growling!

Isla has taken her growling to the next level. Grandma Lee had a little duck and when you squeezed it it said Aflac. I think the battery was getting low because it sounded like the duck was growling. SInce then Isla has started to mimic the Aflac duck.

The second growl is the BEST!

She is getting so close to crawling, she takes four wobbly steps forward then drops to her belly to army crawl. When ever I bring out the camera to record her, she stops.

 

Isla does this side pose about 100 times a day.

Now that Rowdy is mobile, she gets into some sneaky places! I thought the house was baby proof... not so much!

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

I kept coming across this book when I was searching for a new read (technically a new listen since I don't get to sit down and read anymore). I love it, it's probably in my top ten favorite books. It ended too soon and I was left a little lonely when the book ended. Elizabeth is my new favorite fictional heroine, I wonder how brave I would be if I were in her place. I would also love to meet Isola for a cup a coffee. Ahhh, I kind of wish I had an Isola in my life. I would always be entertained.

If you have a moment to read, pick it up. You wont be disappointed. 

Sayonara Bink!

Andrew hated the moment we gave Isla her pacifier. He didn't want to have the a toddler walking around with a binky in her mouth. I promised him that before the year was up I would have Isla debinkafied. He was nervous about having a codependent baby. I let him know that I had numerous nieces and nephews who used the binky, that they do well in school, have healthy relationships with family and friends, and seem to make good decisions, that we were not creating a crutch for a daughter. He was on board when we encountered our first sleepless night and hasn't complained too much since then.

A few months ago I started to give her the bink for sleep time only, she wasn't talking as much as I liked and thought she needed to have that plug out of her mouth. That seemed to do the trick and she has been babbling a lot more. Then last week after I couldn't find one, I thought well lets see how nap time without her crutch goes, and well... there was about 5 minutes of crying and she went to sleep. So there you have it, we went cold turkey and our household has been bink-free for 7 days.

Aunt Sharyl bought Isla this cute puffy blue dress. I had no idea where she was going to wear it, then I decided she can where it anytime. She looks great in blue, huh?

Army Crawl/Worm!

While I was gone to the Junk,I thought Miss Rowdy would start crawling. In fact, as we were leaving all the girls told Andrew to make sure Isla wouldn't crawl. They were a little afraid I would come home, because I would be devastated if I missed it. She didn't start crawling, but this is close enough.

Jess-a-palooza

I threw Jess a bachelorette party last weekend. I recently found out that Grand Junction had wineries and Jes thought having her party there would be a great idea.

The gift bags for the crew had: little tanks that had Jess-a-palooza printed on the front, headbands, flower rings, lotions, and a cute coach make up bag.

This poor vintner had no idea what he got himself into! I did love him, he was like a wine Santa.

Later that night we went on a pub crawl. Each girl had a different list of task they had to complete. The task ranged from finding the oldest man and asking him to dance to finding someone to practice walking down the aisle. Jes won!

The best time of the night was the dance party we had by ourselves in the back of the car.

Seattle

    We took Isla up to Seattle to meet Andrew's sister's family. This was Isla's first flight, and I was a little nervous. I'm a little ashamed to admit that I'm one of those people who see a baby on a flight I think "oh boy." I thought years of bad karma are going to come back on me, well as always, Isla proved me wrong. She was a saint. We sat by a wonderful women who has two small kids at home and entertained Isla the entire flight. That was a huge relief. Andrew had to be in Seattle for work, so after he got everything set up for work we went to Lori's. I was excited to see how Isla's cousins were going to act around her. Ian and Drew are two boys who love action heroes, weapons, karate, bugs, and act like monkeys. I was thinking they might think a baby girl would cramp their style. Again I was wrong, they were in love with the Isla the moment they saw her. Every minute that Isla was awake the boys where right by her side.

 

 

Every morning Ian would put a sweat band on Isla.

 

Drew winks and smile in his pictures. I think he would make a great pirate.

 

By day 2 I was wondering if I would be able to bring my baby back home with me. Lori was ready to take me house shopping.

Isla's favorite superheroes! 

We had a wonderful time up in Seattle. It's so nice going up and staying with Lori. She is an amazing hostess. I felt extremely lazy, the boys entertained Isla, we went to the zoo, then the wineries and Lori cooked every night for us, ahhhh ... wait... Why did I come home?
